Near Saint Jean de Fos , you
will have the opportunity to approach remarkable sites
or interesting sights of the french country. In this
way, you have to visit the “Clamouse”
cave, especially since it is located only one
kilometre from the village. As a matter of fact, this
cave is famous for the variety and the quality of its
natural concretions.
A little farther, in the Hérault
gorges, the Saint Guilhem le Désert village
(<10 km) is known for its famous romanesque abbey
and many craftsman shops.

A little nearer, the
“Pont du Diable” (the devil
bridge) (500m), which was built in the 11th
century, is located in an amazing natural site,
good for bathing.
For several centuries now, Saint Jean de
Fos has been at the top of monumental craft
pottery industry for decoration. These potteries
are nationaly and internationaly renowned.

Saint Jean de Fos is also
a renowned vineyard. Its co-operative
wine cellar “Les Graves” currently gathers
240 wine growers from the village and
the surroundings. Several AOC (guarantee
of high quality wine from an identified vineyard) are
notably extracted of the co-operative : one rosé
(Syrah – Cinsault) and two red wines (a classic
one and a wooded version).
Congratulations on the bronze
medal won at the initiative contest 42 with
the well-known Merlot (from the traditionnal category
“Les vins de Clamouse”). |
Do not hesitate taking your car to admire the “Plateau
du Larzac” countryside (north of Arboras).
A way towards Clermont-l’Hérault will allow
you to visit, besides this small town, the old Villeneuvette
royal factory, the natural ruins circus of Mourèze,
Octon and the Salagou lake
surrounded by red rocks.
| Another tour, by
gignac, Aniane, Puéchabon, Saint Bauzille de Putois
and the “Causse de la Selle” will allow you
to discover, besides amazing scrubland countrysides, the
prehistoric village of Cambous, the Saint
Martin de Londres village and its romanesque church,
the “Demoiselles” cave, the Brissac
castle and its church. |
